Okay, so NOW I'm dead!!!

Whew!!!! It's official.....I'm dead.

On a good note, I'm half way through book one! Don't know how, considering I've been planning a surprise 40th birthday party for my hubby. He hates surprises and told me not to do anything, but I LOVE surprises. And I turn 40 next year. get the picture.

Anyway, my kids all knew and I was sure someone would give it away. But somehow, we managed to pull it off. He didn't have a clue. I shipped all my kids off for the night and made it an adult only party set to a biker theme. It was a blast. So here's how it went.

One biker cake.

I looked exactly like Johhny Depp in Pirates of the Carribean with my doo rag on, so my niece straightened my hair while I rolled a meat tray. It took FOREVER!! A fun look, but waaaayyy too time consuming for me. But it was really cool feeling like a different person for a night.

My brother brought along a parrot that said really dirty things every time someone walked by and it was soooo funny watching people jump and look around like "Who said that?"

Add a doo rag and some tattoos and I was good to go, along with my fellow biker babe, Barbie Jo. Our hubby's both have motorcycles and we ride together.

My brother brought a doo rag that had hair hanging down the back and a leather vest. He got them from a guy at work.

My brother's wife was all the decoration he needed but we made her wear a tattoo also.

My sister cooked all the food all day for me and let me hide all the booze all week. Gotta love sisters. You can bet she was ready for a drink, but she wouldn't wear a doo rag. Although she did buy a biker t-shirt and I tattooed her, too;))

My sister's hubby and my father-in-law and my hubby's brother all went golfing and they kept him away so he'd be surprised. No costume for her hubby, so we slapped that hairy doo rag on him too.

My hubby's brother even dressed up, fake tattoo and all.

My hubby's sister donned the tattoo, but drew the line at a doo rag.

Even his 92 year old grandmother came. Gotta love bonding with the women.

And then we surprised "the man". He stood outside a good ten minutes, while we were all inside hiding. He kept looking down the street thinking someone must be having a party, never having a clue it was for him. He finally came in and was in shock (moreso over what we were wearing), but then he changed his clothes and got into the spirit. He even donned that crazy doo wig. I think everyone did at one point or another.

Then it was time to par-tay. By the way, that's my brother in the back after my hubby stole his vest and wig.

Throw in a few cigars and we were good to go.

And go, and go, and go.

And that's a wrap, folks. Now back to finish the second half of my book;))
Karitown out!

you, my friend, are one hot babe!!! I want a tattoo for real!

Looks like the party was lots of fun, and what a great theme. You need to do my party for me next time... ;)

Can't wait to read that book!

Beth, you are so funny. So many people told me I looked younger. Well, hell. My curls are too hard to keep straight all the time. And my kids hate change. They kept saying wash your hair. We want the curls back. It was too funny.

Trish Ryan said...

That looks fun! And I've never - ever - heard of anyone who can straight-iron their hair while rolling a meat tray. I can't even imagine that level of're every woman :)

Looks like you had a rockin party! I love the theme.

You are a HOT mama!

It's nice you had a party for your "hub". I'm sure you deserved to relax in your own right.

Looks like you guys had a blast! Although I thing grandma should have gotten a tattoo. :-) And you looked great, girlfriend--like a hot biker babe for sure.

OMG what a blast that must have been!

Not sure if my first comment posted (stupid blogger!) but I just wanted to say: you sure do know how to throw a party! Very cool of you to put in all that time and effort to set it up.

Kari Lee Townsend said...

Thanks guys. I felt like a hot mama. Now back to reality;))

And Gwen, I was going to put a tattoo on Grandma, but I pretty much soaked everyone, so they wouldn't let me near her;))

And Trish Ryan, my niece straightened my hair while I rolled the meat tray. I'm not THAT good;))

don't let her fool you folks, she IS that good! I'm in awe of the party-planning biker babe! And believe it or not, I had to come from a most holy day with my daughter and family (her first communion) whip out of the church clothes and turn into "Biker Babe Barbie Jo".

So forgetting for a moment that her poor husbands family is there... what are the first words out of my mouth as I get off my hubby's bike and take off my helmet???

Where's my Bitch! To which Kari came screaming through the garage.

I thought the guys smoking cigars were going to keel over....

Yup, Kari throws a mean party!

We soooo can't wait til our next ride!

Kari Lee Townsend said...

OMG, Barbie Jo. I forgot all about you screaming, "Where's my bitch?" and me running out like, "Here I am!" then hugging you hard. Too damn funny. So glad you came. It wouldn't have been the same without you. The looks on the guys' faces was priceless. Can you see us at nationals? Man, I can't wait. You can bet there will be pictures of that!

Dorky Day's Wife here (he's away, I'm taking his place for a few day).

He just had a birthday, and all I did was make a cake and get him a few presents. Now I feel pretty lame in comparison!

Nicki Greenwood said...

Happy birthday to hubby!!!! I can't even begin to fathom how they made the brown frosting though. *trying not to think too hard about that* Looks like you had a ball!
