Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Staying Alive, Staying Alive!!!!

Wahooo, I'm staying alive, folks. I only have three more chapters to go to finish the first book in my four book Comfort Club series. I have to have it finished by mid to end of June, and then nationals is July 11! I'm so excited and nervous. I don't want to screw this one up. I have two editors who have read the proposal for all four books and are waiting to read the full of this when it's done.

One of the editors had this to say to my agent about my second book (also a humorous women's fiction).

I've now read through Project Produce, and though I'm going to be passing on it, I enjoyed it very much. The voice was perky and likable, and the storytelling had a breezy, readable quality that I found very enjoyable. The pace of the story was nice, too. My problem with this is that I don't entirely know where it would go in terms of our lists; it's not a good fit for our romance program because we have several breezy contemporeary romances on the list now and this one would get lost in the shuffe of so many similar kinds of books. And though I could see it published as a non-romance, I don't see it as a good fit for either our trade paperback or our hardcover list. So this is a regrettable pass; I do hope you find a good home for this one. I think this author has great potential.

Ugh! Talk about a good rejection. If it had been a year ago, she would have bought it! Anyway, she already likes my voice, so hopefully, she'll like the comfort club. It's all about luck and timing, people! And there's still hope that another publisher will like Project Produce or Destiny Wears Spurs.

What else have I been up to when I'm not writing????? Can you say par-tay??? We partied all weekend at my brothers, then my sisters, then my inlaws. I only included pictures of my brothers because they're just goofy.

We had a bonfire for the adults up by the pool.

and a bonfire for the kids out by the pond.

The kids had a blast between the pool and the camper.

The women had a blast, too.

But the men....well, they had wayyyyyy too much fun!
Here's my brother doing a dance you don't want to know about.

And my brother-in-law attempting to do a dance you don't want to know about.

And my hubby doing .... well, I can't even talk about it without laughing. NOT a good look for him to say the least.

But looking oh-so-hot here. Yeah, baby, gotta love the biker dude. And that's my oldest with him. They rode the bike to my mother-in-law's on Monday while I drove behind with the other three in the car, making sure they got there okay. Gotta love a man in leather;)) Sigh....yeah, that's why we've been married for 18 years with 4 kids at only 40!
Giddyup!!!!

I'll post more when I'm done with the book! Miss all you blogger people. Don't forget about me;))
Karitown out!!!

Girl, we couldn't forget about you if we tried.
Sorry about the *rejection* .. what a bummer. I don't know if her being so darned complimentary would make me happy or more sad ...
But hey, you do have a HOT man there ... and well ... yea ... I am sure that you will have more novels to write :O)

Hey Kari, I finally found your blog. Great looking family. I love it when a family plays together. I also have a good one.

Sorry about the "R" but what a great one to get. I have a friend who once said she wished they'd just say her book sucked instead of all the complimentary things she got. She's now published! There is hope for all of us. How long is your Comfort first book?

OK, I sooo know they are dancing to "Smack That!" All on the floor, smack that, give me some more!... am I right, or am I right??

And hubby--well, you can tell him Manic thinks he is dirty-hot, and that's VEEEERRRRRY GOOD in my book! (Not that I have a 'real' book or anything like that! Ha!)

Good for you! And that is an awesome pass (NOT rejection!). It's just a matter of finding the right match!

Awe -that's good stuff. Congrats on what sounds like the most positive rejection ever...It seems like the next step will be a contract, once your first book finds the right home!

The party pix were great :)

Can't forget about you! Good luck with the book!

Your hubby is way hot and your son is such a cutie!

Looks like you guys had a great party. Looks like your brother is smackin that booty. Am I right?

Thanks March and Dim. Only two chapters to go;))

Liz, I know how your friend feels. When they basically tell you if they hadn't bought so many chick lit/ women's fiction (whatever you want to call it these days) they would have bought it, well, that just stinks. I've said it a million times but it's so true. Timing and luck are everything in this business. This book is 75,000 to 80,000.

Thanks Trish and Swishy;) And Manic and Cubmommy, um, yeah, they were smackin' that booty all right.

You had to see it live to get the full effect.

If ever a rejection can be good, that one really was! That must be a great ego booster! Best of luck with the Comfort Club books!

someone will buy it soon.

I'll do my part -- I'm picturing myself at the book store with my husband, I'm pointing to the prominant display of your books and I say, "Oh! She's one of my bloggers!" We will buy your book and it will be full price because it is so popular.

Can't wait.
