Oh Happy Day!!!!

The Party's over, baby........for them, anyway;))) Hee, hee, hee!!!!! Just look at the faces and you'll see what I mean.

OLDEST BOY SAYS, "Does it look like I'm happy, Mom? This is waaaaaay too freaking early for me. I've only been sleeping in until 11 all summer long. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I mean, who gets up this early, anway?"

To which I reply, "Snort." Hee, hee, chuckle, chuckle. "Welcome to my world, baby!" I'd love to have slept in, but someone had to clean the house, do the laundry, run everyone ... EVERYWHERE! But, hey, I didn't mind. I live to serve you all, and hell, I didn't want a life of my own, anyway. I repeat, SNORT!

MIDDLE BOY adds, "Yeah, like, why do we need to go to school, anway? I mean, you get to stay home. What do you do all day ... alone?"

To which I answer, "You're kidding, right?" What do I do all day? Boy has their father trained them well. Either that, or men are just born this way. "I think I can come up with something, so don't you worry about me. I'll be just fine." Insert hysterical laugh over the thought of being alone after two VERY long months of nothing but noise, and more noise, and well, NOISE!

YOUNGEST BOY throws in his two cents, "But won't you miss us?"

I feel a twinge of guilt for, oh, about all of two seconds, but then I come to my senses. "Of course I'll miss you, but absense makes the heart grow fonder, so grab your backpack, tie your shoes and hurry up before you miss the bus." Then I kiss him on the cheek, slap him on the hiney, and send him out the door.

And then there was one. And trust me, one was enough! One Diva, anyway;)))

Diva says (after coming downstairs fully dressed and ready for school at 7 am. I kid you not.) "Mommy, I'm ready for school. When does my bus come?"

I pour another cup of coffee, cuz it's gonna take several strong cups to get me through this morning, and say, "Oh, honey, your bus doesn't come until 12:35. You're in afternoon kindergarten, remember?"

To which she replies, "Well, that's cheap. The boys get to leave early and I'm stuck here with you. So are we gonna shop or somethin' at least?"

I sigh, take another hearty sip, count down the hours until she leaves, and then I smile and say, "Or somethin'."

We shopped all morning, ate lunch out, then came home and took pictures outside while waiting for the bus.

The bus took a really long time.

Then finally it came, to which she said, "I'm a big girl now, you know. You don't have to wait with me."

To which I said, "Humor me."

And she said, "Huh?"

And I realized I was wasting part of my prescius 2.5 hours before the oldest son gets home, and I hurriedly said, "Love you, miss you, have fun." Then I waved as she crossed the street with the bus assistant.

Then I sang Oh Happy Day while dancing a jig all the way up my drivway. Pretty scary with no makeup, in need of a dye job and a haircut in a big way, and a very hot shower, but I'm smiling, folks. I'm smiling.

And how was your day??????

And, Nicki, I'm still singing....oh happy day!!!!

da, da, da, da, da ... da,da,da!

So what will you be doing for that 2.5 hour period anyway?

Your boys do not look happy.

Your daughter does!

Yay for our free time! My Tukey goes in the pm too, but his bus comes at 11:45 and they don't get home till 2:45! THREE FULL HOURS!!

Thanks for your sweet comments over at MM. I hope you'll be blogging more regularly now!!

Your middle boys could be twins, and the Diva! I almost heard her Diva voice as you wrote about her. Enjoy these years, insanity and all, as they grow up so fast.

Glad to see you back on the blog, and hang in there with your Comfort Series. All you need is one editor to fall in love with it.

PS - make your picks before tonight's game!

I'll be writing, Jocular. You had to ask???

You deserve every comment, Manic. And yes, I will be blogging at least once a week. That's better than nothing, right;))

Liz, I will make my pics before the game for sure. And my two middle boys really don't look alike in person, but in this picture they do. My middle boy and my duaghter look just alike in person.

I'm still dancing, folks.

yaaaaaaaaaayy! First day of school for us was pretty similar. Oldest was downstairs before 7, dressed and "ready". The youngest has taken that over now. Once he is ready he wants to go..none of this "wait until the bus comes" stuff.

Every morning I am reminded of how my mother had to wake me up for school.

Go in room, wake up kid, go warm up car, go in room, wake up kid again taking cover this time, pour coffee, go in room wake up kid again taking sheet and pillow, shove clothes in hand and screaming, "we're going to be late." Then my morning starts.

So enjoy those 2.5 hours for me.

Ok now I have an image in my head of your happy dance. I'm highly amused. LOL!

Congrats on getting some writing time back!

I can appreciate the feeling of sending your children off to school. My oldest started kindergarten this year. FULL DAY!! Did 1/2 day pre-k last year. Which leaves me with my wild child until 4PM. I still can't get a whole lot of writing, but the boys aren't fighting when one isn't here. Sigh.. that truly is the sound of heaven. No whines, cries, hysterics or black eyes... :-) Ther only 3 and 5... I'll appreciate any prayers said. ;-) My youngest is headed to boot camp! So, like you Kari, I do nothing allll day. Ha ha. Clean underwear just magically show up in their drawers. Poof- burned dinner in the table... where do they think this stuff comes from?

G'day from Australia,

Followed your link from Dorky Dad's site (his spitting post).

I'm a father of three (and a novelist) and could write another bestseller on why boys spit!

Cheers

"Well, that's cheap."

I will be using this one for sure -- too cute.

And, amen sister. Sweet solitude -- my capacity to love and shower them with adoration is so much greater when I get some.

Tuesday, when they went back, all I heard in the silence was that static sound like one gets after attending a really loud concert.

Okay you guys are making me wish my animals went to school..

A Doberman, a Beagle, a Tuxedo Cat, Fish and a new turtle..

The fish and the turtle not so bad..the other three..grow bored very easily and start picking on each other.. Mayhem. Or they turn their attention to me..

Oh and my mom and husband were admiring my new haircut and started checking out the grey hairs and my mom looks at my husband and says "Well, there are WAAAYY too many to pluck out."

Honey: "Can you dye it without hurting your haircut?"

WTF!?

How funny! Your daughter sounds like a pistol ... lol. I love it!

AW, Gwyn, I forget you have to go back to work at the end of summer. Bummer. But I'm still doing the happy dance.

Except my dance just got a bit slower as my husband leaned over my shoulder to look at the pictures and said, "Honey, you're starting to look old!"

I repeat, no makeup, just got out of bed, don't really care cuz the kids are leaving....old, my butt. Hell, he has just as many wrinkles as I do.

Damn!

G'day Kari Lee,

Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving that comment about photography.

I've posted quite a few hints for budding photographers and bloggers. If you can't find them, let me know, but the last one for photo buffs was about a fortnight ago.

For general blogging advice, I wrote a couple of posts titled `Bloggers Deserve the House of Lauds' and `Put Your Blog on the Reader Radar' that you might find interesting.

Keep smiling

David
